Te Pae 19 Oct – 25 Oct: music from the archives, Liana Stupples on Paekakariki’s streams, and Civil Defence preparations for ‘the big one’

Tunes, news, and views, this week on Te Pae with DJ Kaia Hawkins. Phoebe is with the lovely Liana Stupples to talk about ways you can get involved with what happening at our local streams. Squawk of the week with Maria Cameron followed by a bunch of brave Paekakariki households recently took part in the ‘Get Ready. Get Through.‘ civil defence weekend challenge. This meant voluntarily giving up power, water (or even both!) for 48 hours. Tonight we have some of these brave locals in the studio to tell us how it went. Sylvia speaks to Foxton Beach writer Carol Markwell.  Carol is best known for her plays but she also writes stories and poems and has recently published a book which she will read from for tonight’s spoken word.

As always Te Pae will be airing live on Sunday 6-8pm and repeated daily throughout the week 12-2pm and 6-8pm.
