Andy McKay: Punk – a taste of musical freedom
Punk music has been around for about 40 years. It is seen as an expression of musical freedom; often appreciated by socially and politically aware young people. “All it really takes is a guitar and maybe some drums – a sort of do it yourself thing,” according to Andy McKay, Paekakariki host for ‘The Paekak Punk Show’, Monday & Friday at 10pm.
Andy acknowledges it has become more sophisticated over the past few decades. Today there are a number of different styles of punk involving talented musicians. Originally from New Plymouth, Andy was heard on Paekakariki FM’s ‘Te Pae’ before starting his own show earlier this year. Tune in to the Punk Show. It could change your outlook about a lot of things.
