Run by the community for the community we want your involvement.<\/p>\n<p>Paekakariki 88.2FM is a non-profit volunteer run radio station , run alongside web platform <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paekakariki.nz\">www.paekakariki.nz<\/a>\u00a0 under the auspices of Paekakariki Informed Community, former publisher of community newspaper <em>Paekakariki Xpressed<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Our grateful thanks to our radio sponsors: Groundtruth, Beach Road Deli, The Perching Parrot and The Front Room Eatery, Waikanae Beach.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide reliable community information<\/li>\n<li>Provide civil defence and other information in emergency and power cut situations<\/li>\n<li>Provide a platform for education for our youth<\/li>\n<li>Be the people&#8217;s voice, representing and promoting the diversity of our community, our needs, and the unique character of Paekakariki.<\/li>\n<li>Promote environmental awareness, in particular our native birdlife, flora and fauna<\/li>\n<li>Represent the concerns of local tangata whenua<\/li>\n<li>Share the community&#8217;s stories, histories and provide discussion of different views<\/li>\n<li>Develop, present and record local DJS, musicians, artists and writers, and prioritise locally produced content<\/li>\n<li>Entertain and stimulate<\/li>\n<li>Develop an oral history of the community<\/li>\n<li>Provide the facilities, advice, training and technical support for residents to create and broadcast their own radio programmes<\/li>\n<li>Establish and nurture mutual interests and relationships with other like minded communities and individuals, whether in the region, nationally or internationally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Committee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meets bi-monthly to assess all applications and report on activity, issues and planning<\/p>\n<p>Chair: Renwick Wright<\/p>\n<p>Secretary: Emma McLaughlin<\/p>\n<p>Treasurer: Siggy Woolloff<\/p>\n<p>Mark Amery<\/p>\n<p>Paul Radich<\/p>\n<p>Chrissi Johnson<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Bar-Even (IT)<\/p>\n<p>Mike Gibson (Studio equipment)<\/p>\n<p>Pete Handford (transmission)<\/p>\n<p>Don Polly<\/p>\n<p>Val Little<\/p>\n<p>Mark Coote<\/p>\n<p>James Albertson (programming)<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Armitage<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Email us here with any enquiries, concerns, or to contribute.
