Week 5 the return of some old faves and a new show

Greetings Paekakarikeans and friends over the tracks,

We celebrate our first month on air (applause) which means in this pilot period the chance for you to hear our beloved week one hosts return sharper, keener and funkier. But wait, there’s more! We also throw into the works a brand new show from our favourite Black Seed Tim Jaray.

5pm   Indiginz sessions: with Himiona Grace, music by contemporary Maori, Pacific and Aotearoa based bands and artists, with a few tracks by indigenous and ethnic groups from around the globe.

6-8pm    Te Pae/ The Perch FM: A two hour show of community news, notices, interviews, performances and music for every taste. This week:

Live musical performance: Oscar Dorne

Neighbour of the Week interview: Tim Hunt, Pacific Tattoo

Movie reviewer: Gabe Bishop-Evans

Community Group Squawk of the Week: Playcentre, in the lead up to Kapiti Garden Show

Community Notices at 7pm

Issue of the Week: Coastal Erosion – our seawall

Writer of the Week: Hugh Brown

8-9pm  Garage Sale Funk: Music and stories from Haumia Street’s funkiest DJ and garage sale goer, Paul Howard.

9-10pm Living the Highlife

From Lagos to Addis Ababa and back, with Tim Jaray

10-11pm Classical Futures: Anna-Marie O’Brien takes you on a journey through modern classical music, local and beyond.

The above programme changes weekly and begins live on Sunday nights and is then repeated nightly at the same times Monday-Saturday. We are currently in a three month pilot phase so do excuse all bumps along the way!

Paekakariki: this is your perch, we want your contribution!

Email us with your feedback, ideas or contribute a community notice to [email protected]. Community Notices must have ‘community notice’ in the subject line, be ready to be read out and be less than 100 words.
