Two shows this week by fine Wellington Road gents

Two Tuesday night/ Wednesday afternoon Paekakariki radio shows this month by fine Wellington Road gents:

Murray’s Miscellany (Tues 9pm, Wed 4pm) features the Australian classical composer Graeme Koehne. A delight amongst modern composers, Koehne produces melodic, rhythmic and tonally appealing orchestrations that will make you feel good. Pieces to be played include “40 reasons to be cheerful” (a fanfare), a short 4-part orchestral suite based on his ballet and contemporary dance commission “Tivoli Dances”,  a guitar solo, a reflective work for oboe and orchestra, and his bouncy “Elevator music”. All are works that will both surprise and enchant.

This months Cecil Road Sessions with Francis Mills  (Tuesdays 8pm, Wednesdays 3pm) – “There and back again – (from womad to the far north)” Recordings from last months Womad. Plus: a few i picked up on our travels north. Plus: a few recorded in Paekak when we got back  (incl music & John Trimmer from the Art show opening night).
