Te Pae August 31 – September 7

Nau mai haere mai.Did you know that Forest and Bird was begun by Paekakarii resident Val Sanderson after he returned from WW1 in 1923, concerned at the state of NZ’s forests’? This week on te Pae our election issue is the environment, and we have neighbours Kevin Hackwell (Forest and Bird’s Advocacy Manager) and Pete Handford (Groundtruth) in the studio discuss what the big issues are.  This week Te Pae also extends its listening hours to shows at 12-2pm at the weekends for those who miss it during the week. So we’re now 12-2pm daily and 6-8pm Sunday to Thursday.

Mark Amery presents this week’s Te Pae  with support from the Beach Road Deli. Janet Bayly discusses the work of our regional gallery Mahara and there’s some focus on Paekakariki School with Paekakariki’s Got Talent winner Lily Fulton playing, and a short interview with winner of the junior section Rosie Taniki. Principal John masson is our Sqwark of the week and spoken Word is from Barbara Simmons, one of whose ancestors was an early inhabitant of Ames Street.

And do tell your friends and neighbours that with our transmitter now up the hill not only should everyone in Paekakariki now be able to hear us at 88.2Fm, but most of Raumati and Paraparaumu  and parts of Pukerua Bay as well. We’d love to hear how your reception is  at [email protected]. Also streaming at www.paekakariki.org.nz

And here’s our whole week schedule:
