Te Pae 3rd May 2015 -Bees they may be little but they are very, very important

On this week’s show our theme is bees. Some of the hardest working and arguably most important creatures on the planet, Paekakariki is home to a number of beehives and bee enthusiasts. We’re joined by three beehive holders: local bee man Pete Mackie, who has at least 100 hives spread over the lower North island, Storm Davenport who is alert for bee swarms, and newbie Owen Kahl. Also on the show Grace Wynn Ewens with the youth report, Miriama Te One on Nepal, from where she has recently returned and with Sarah Te One introducing a Nepal Fundraiser next Saturday, music from open mic night from Tanya Xiangxiang, Janet Holborrow updates on community happenings and Graeme Browne reads from his grandfather, then Paekakariki resident, Harry Browne’s moving accounts of fighting at Gallipoli and the Somme. honeybee1
