Policing Paekakariki – Te Pae 14-20 June 2015

This week on Te Pae your community radio show (6-8pm, 12-2pm daily) with Mark Amery we talk policing –  Crime wave, what crime wave? Recently there’s been continued concern about the amount of crime in our village. So much so the community board provided a grant towards a volunteer community patrol visiting from Paraparaumu. There has also been continued discussion about the effectiveness of surveillance cameras, and other community initiatives. Is crime on the increase, or are we simply sharing more on social media? When in surveillance does care turn into control or a disrespect of our freedoms? What can you do about it? We’re joined by John Stewart, Jason Dykes and Sam Buchanan. It’s the beginning of Matariki festival and we look at activities here and in the region, and talk about our local kura’s celebration this Thursday. Rachel is in to review a movie or two at Finns and Damien Ruth is our local poet in the spoken word segment. First up at 12 and 6pm every day is a special performance from Kapiti singer songwriter Christine White.
